HISTORY
The history of our company began with a personal and professional decision taken by Sion Mascaró, a true Mallorcan. In the midst of the developmentalism of the 1960s, he adopted a decision that was bold yet also carefully thought-out: to travel to Andalusia to purchase a tractor. In those days, leaving the island was quite an adventure and embarking on the acquisition of a vehicle with the determination to turn it into a profitable venture required a strong sense of conviction, essential in order to understand that it was worth the risk. The acquisition of that first tractor and his return to Mallorca were the initial steps that would be followed by many others that have brought us to where we are today.
Although our founder’s early activities were related to agriculture, the company grew steadily, expanding into other areas of professional services, in line with the development of Mallorcan society and the island’s thriving tourism industry. As a result, Sion Mascaró’s business venture evolved towards activities related to the construction sector and public services.
A COMPANY OF FAMILIES
Melchor Mascaró became a company of families when the founder’s children joined the firm to continue with his original vocation. Melchor Mascaró has always been a family business, as the staff includes several members of a number of families. In fact, no fewer than three generations of the same family have worked at Melchor Mascaró, honouring one of its core values: the connection between work and the family. Indeed, each employee acquires a twofold commitment towards themselves and the family they belong to, honouring the standing, pride and good name of parents, children, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and siblings.
